Strathaven’s own local drama group, Rankin File, brought “A Wee Bit of Country” to the Strathaven Town Mill.  For two evenings at the beginning of September the very talented members of the group performed a variety of country classics from Nancy Griffith, Lady Antebellum, Dolly Pardon, Tony Christie and Elvis, to name but a few.  The audience enjoyed singing along to the well known classics but were surprised and highly amused by The Rankine File’s unique and hilarious version of Stand By Your Man and D.I.V.O.R.C.E. The singers we accompanied by a  band led by musical director Eric Rice on keyboard, with Andy Bunce on acoustic guitar, Tommy McCleary on bass guitar and Craig Duff on drums.

A raffle was held both evenings and made about £300 which the drama group has donated to The Mill. The Mill committee is very greatful for this donation which will be used to maintain and improve the building.
